2.23.18 Newsboys United Tour Blog (Numero Uno)
The first 5 shows of the Newsboys United Tour kicked off in California and have been an absolute joy from start to finish.
Our first night kicked off on Valentines Day in Stockton, CA at the Bob Hope theatre and we felt that the tone was set for the rest of this spring tour. Newsboys’ crowds are rowdy and we absolutely felt the love!!
Since the first show, we have passed through San Jose, Redding, Visalia, had a day off barbecue with the Newsboys & crew in Huntington Beach (We ate a lot of lamb and steak!!) and finished our Cali run on the 21st at the historic Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.
Sometime after we had an amazing breakfast of omelets at the Wiltern and before the show, we hopped in a tiny car and scooted off to Guitar Center on Sunset BLVD in Los Angeles. If you know any of us in Zealand, we love vintage guitars and gear, and this Guitar Center is particularly dangerous, as its stocked full with some rare beautiful guitars. Apart from our drooling over instruments, this shop has a special significance for our lead singer, Phil Joel. 25 years ago, Phil flew in from New Zealand and met the Newsboys at this very Guitar Center so it holds some fun significance!
The Wiltern Theatre has some mojo and the amount of musical legends that have graced the stage is nothing short of incredible. We made sure our green room’s playlist reflected who had played in the theatre (i.e. Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, and The Foo Fighters). It was a special night to get to sing to and about our Creator in such a historical venue.
Last night we were in Prescott Valley, AZ and the crowd was INCREDIBLE! Today we're gearing up for our show in Cheyenne, WY and then we have a few days off back home with our families and loved ones. This has been such a great last few weeks!
The Newsboys and the crew have been so gracious to us on this tour and we really feel that its truly “united” out here on the road. It’s an honor to share the stage with Tait and the boys plus the Newsboys United set with Peter and Phil!
Don’t miss the Newsboys United tour if its coming through your area as we truly believe you’ll walk away encouraged and likely with a slight ringing in your ear 😉
We hope to see you at a show!!
P.S. Our brand new record “Liberated” is available now via iTunes and Spotify!!
